Duplicate detection during submission

One of our cataloguers has asked about duplicate detection during the submission process. She claims that it is functionality that they had in DSpace-CRIS 5.10, and are missing from DSpace 7.6.3.

Is anyone aware of such functionality in the recent DSpace versions?

Hi Sean,

A basic duplicate detection feature was added in DSpace 8.0. See the fifth bullet in the Release Notes for that release: https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSDOC8x/Release+Notes#ReleaseNotes-NewUserFeatures

However, this duplicate detection feature is *not the same* as what may have been in DSpace-CRIS 5.  DSpace-CRIS is a separate system built/maintained by 4Science.  It's based on DSpace (and extends DSpace), but it has some differences in features/functionality.  The duplicate detection feature in DSpace 8 is a basic comparison of similar looking titles. I believe the DSpace-CRIS version checked additional metadata fields, etc.
