Does Maven really compile java sources?

When I try to change something in Java sources of DSpace, these changes seem to be ignored.

It's DSpace 6.3, and I execute "mvn -U clean package" and "ant update". I do not see new functionality against my corrections in Java.

The problem is solved. It is necessary to clear the Tomcat cache that keeps old versions of all modules.
