I have installed the Dspace 8 frontend and backend in the same Ubuntu 22.04.5 server, but the error 500 in the frontend in browsing outside the server, and browsing localhost is working inside the server. I have installed Nginx and edited the dspace_ui.conf file (/etc/nginx/conf.d/dspace_ui.conf) and changed those files (Local.config in dspace, Prod.yml, Conf.prod.yml and pg hba), also rerun yarn, but also have the error 500 in the frontend in browsing outside the server. Who can how to fix this problem?

Hi,

A 500 error is usually a sign of a misconfiguration.  We have a guide for how to solve this issue in our "Common Installation Issues" at the bottom of the Install Guide:

In your case, the issue is probably because you are attempting to use an IP address and HTTP.  To run from a different server, you should use HTTPS, and ideally you should use a domain as described in the installation guide.  https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSDOC8x/Installing+DSpace

Dear Tim,

I have installed the nginx and SSL, but also have the error 500 in the frontend in browsing outside the server and also can not browsing backend outside the server.
How can fix it?
FYI, before install nginx, have the error 500 in the frontend in browsing outside the server, and also can browsing backend outside the server.

Tommy

Hi Tommy,

You should run through the steps listed in the Common Installation Issues for 500 errors.  https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSDOC8x/Installing+DSpace#InstallingDSpace-%22500ServiceUnavailable%22fromtheUserInterface
You also should check to see if there's any underlying/hidden errors by using the troubleshooting guide: https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSPACE/Troubleshoot+an+error#Troubleshootanerror-DSpace7.x(orabove)

In general, a 500 error means the frontend cannot communicate with the backend.  I won't be able to tell you *why* that is occurring, but a large number of various scenarios where that can occur are listed in that "Common Installation Issues" guide (first link).  If it's not helpful, then look for other errors using the second link.
