Hi,

In DSpace 7.1 this feature is mentioned in the release notes:

"Support for importing Project Entities with funding information via the OpenAIRE API (Donated by Paulo Graça ): When importing a new "Research Project" Entity, a new "Funding OpenAIRE API" option is available, allowing you to import a Project from the OpenAIRE API complete with all it's funding information (Funder, Funder Identifier, Funding Stream and Funding ID). This is implemented via a new external source via Live Import from external sources." [1]

How can a user import a project via the OpenAIRE API? Is the import available via the UI?

Best regards
Franziska

Hi Franziska,

At a minimum, you MUST be using Configurable Entities in DSpace 7, with the "Project" (aka Research Project) Entity installed for it to work correctly. Optionally, we also do have a set of OpenAIRE specific submission forms (for importing new DSpace Entities that map to OpenAIRE entities) which you can optionally enable as well, those are documented at https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSDOC7x/OpenAIRE4+Guidelines+Compliancy (While these forms are optional, they are built based on the metadata that OpenAIRE expects, so if you plan to use OpenAIRE heavily, you likely should either enable these forms or some customized submission form similar to them.)

Once that's setup, in v7.1 (or above), on your MyDSpace page you can click on the "Import Metadata from External Source" button (in the upper right) and select "Research Project". You'll then be given the option of importing a new DSpace "Project" entity via the "Funding OpenAire API"... just search for the object to import and import it.  That'll start a new Project entity submission in your DSpace, importing metadata from OpenAIRE.

If you have further questions, let us know on the list.  Unfortunately we don't have step-by-step screenshots for this behavior yet, but hopefully those instructions will help you out!
Tim
