Creation of new menu tab for graphs

Hello members,

I want to add a menu tab namely "Graphical Stats"  on my DSpace-CRIS menu tab. So when the user clicks on this, it redirects to a page that displays the different charts and graphs (bar chart, pie chart)  based on data from the database like the number of items from each collection, etc. 

Please guide me on how can I achieve such functionality? What steps should I follow?
