Hi all,

Can anyone confirm that the Docker instructions for “Try out DSpace 7” actually work as documented at https://dspace-labs.github.io/DSpace-Docker-Images/documentation/setup.Windows10.html?

A colleague was not able to get it to work, and at a glance it looked like internal container hostnames were being pushed out to the browser where name resolution was failing.

I haven’t delved into it further as I was waiting for a response from the DSpace community about whether or not these instructions should be expected to work currently.

Hi David,

The correct Docker instructions to use for DSpace 7 are available at
https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSPACE/Try+out+DSpace+7#TryoutDSpace7-InstallviaDocker

The instructions at https://dspace-labs.github.io/DSpace-Docker-Images/ are outdated and obsolete.  They are no longer maintained.

After you asked this question, I realized we were accidentally still linking to those outdated/obsolete instructions from the "Try out DSpace 7" page.  I've corrected that mistake by removing the links & replacing them with clearer instructions.

In any case, I just ran through the instructions on the "Try out DSpace 7" page and they work for me locally.  If you hit issues, let us know on this mailing list and we may be able to help determine what may be going wrong.

Tim

Hi Tim,

As per usual, you are an absolute champion.

I had a feeling those other instructions must have been outdated, so thanks for confirming that and updating the wiki. The updated instructions look great and I’ll pass them on to my colleague. I look forward to trying them myself too.
