Exporting items as METS files

Hi everyone,

how can I export items as METS files? I suppose that I have to add the METS metadata fields in my DSpace repository to those describing my items, but how do I proceed after that? If I add the METS metadata, how exactly do I connect them with the existing fields? I can't use the terminal for the export, because I want to import the METS files from DSpace into my application. Can I use cURL for that?

I would be very thankful for a step-by-step advice!

As far as I know, METS export is a command-line only thing.

The METS metadata is not an independent thing, it's generated live from the normal item metadata. An example can be found at: https://github.com/stuartyeates/METS_metadata_for_complete_beginners/tree/master/thesis-dspace
