Hello all,

I hope this email finds you well.

A couple of questions about default READ authorisation policies for full text file.

One of our DSpace collections (https://researcharchive.lincoln.ac.nz/handle/10182/13711) has the following authorisation policies:

READ     Anonymous [Group Settings]

DEFAULT_ITEM_READ   Anonymous [Group Settings]

DEFAULT_BITSTREAM_READ      Administrator [Group Settings]

We want this collection to only have metadata publically available while all full text files are only accessible by admin. When we upload a new file under ‘Bundle: ORIGINAL’ or make a change to the full text file name and/or description e.g., https://researcharchive.lincoln.ac.nz/handle/10182/13750, the full text file seems to pick up the DEFAULT_ITEM_READ policy instead of the DEFAULT_BITSTREAM_READ policy which making it publically accessible.

Have anyone experienced this? Have we done anything wrong in term of setting up the authorisation policies?

We are on DSpace v5.8 XMLUI.

Many thanks in advance,

Yanan

Hi Yanan,
For our repository,  we add all files only accessible by admie as "Evidence file (non-public)".

Hi Rui,

Do you mean you have created a Bundle for restricted files? What’s your authorisation policies for the collections? And what happens when you upload a new file to the Evidence file (non-public) Bundle after an item is live? What’s version of DSpace you are on?

Thanks,

Yanan

Hi Yanan,
Yes we do have a bundle for restricted files, I am not quite sure it is out of the box, or Andrea set it up. We are on DSpace 5.1.
And the evidence file still remains as hidden when we upload a new evidence file after an item is live.

Our authorisation policies for the collections are the same as yours.

READ     Anonymous [Group Settings]

DEFAULT_ITEM_READ   Anonymous [Group Settings]

DEFAULT_BITSTREAM_READ      Administrator [Group Settings]

For example this one, https://hdl.handle.net/10289/14183, only  the accepted version is shown in public, actually we have the publisher's version and another file hidden as evidence files (see the picture below). We keep both files for our Symplectic elements.

Thanks for your reply. I don’t think the bundle for restricted files is out of box.
