The Copyright Librarian leads The Ohio State University Libraries program for offering support, services, and policies that address copyright and intellectual property. The Copyright Librarian provides operational, tactical, and strategic leadership for University Libraries copyright services and is responsible for developing and promoting educational guidelines and programs around rights, permissions, and fair use as they pertain to the scholarly research life cycle. Reporting to the Scholarly Sharing Strategist, the Copyright Librarian heads the Copyright Services unit and supervises the Copyright Services Coordinator. The Copyright Librarian develops policy and practice affecting the use and dissemination of library-created, -digitized, -published, -stewarded, -owned, or -licensed content and is responsible for the development and modification of copyright policies, procedures, and processes for risk assessment and risk management for units of University Libraries. Leading our services for copyright at a leading teaching and research institution, the Copyright Librarian supports our campus faculty, staff, and students in navigating copyright issues in the creation, use, dissemination, and open sharing of scholarly work. Copyright Services is a key strategic partner with units in University Libraries and with units across campus including the Office of Legal Affairs, the Office of Technology and Digital Innovation, the Graduate School, and the Health Sciences Library.
