Just wanted to follow-up with this and say that today I tested the Collection "Batch Export (ZIP)" and "Batch Import (ZIP)" options on the Sandbox site (
https://sandbox.dspace.org) which is running pre-8.0. Both appear to be working for me, so I'm not noticing the failures you noticed.
It is worth noting that it's currently *not possible* to do these imports/exports at a Community level. They are only possible for Collections at this time in 7.x and 8.x.
If you can find a way to reproduce the issue you were seeing, then I'd recommend creating a bug ticket with the step-by-step process that you took which resulted in the error:
https://github.com/DSpace/dspace-angular/issues It's possible that either the error was temporary, or maybe the Zip file you tried to import was invalid. It's also possible you were running into this newly discovered bug:
https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/issues/9499 (which we'll be looking into fixing quickly).
