An issue with Import publications from Orcid works

Hi everyone

I am in the process of integrating my DSpace 8.1 with Orcid sandbox.  I have got the Orcid authentication worked and researcher profile connected.

I can also import Person from Orcid to  DSpace Person entity type collections.

However, I am not success with importing publications (or any other entity types) from Orcid to DSpace publication entity type collections even though I have carefully followed the DSpace documentations for Orcid integration and Orcid authority control.

I can not see the ORCID on drop down list of "import Publication from external sources". It looks that I have missed some important DSpace configuration part.

If someone can help is highly appropriated...

There is nothing specific on ORCID but is explains many things about sources and their configurations.

Highly appreciate your reply. Thank you for pointing out the documentation of general configuration of external sources. I went through it of couple of times, however, it is difficult for me to figure out what exactly has to be done for ORCID as external source. It seems like, by default DSpace 8.1 doesn't support ORCID work import to DSpace publications and  requires high level knowledge to get it work?..

I wounder whether I could get some instructions from one who have got ORCID publication lookup/import working.

Hi Senevi,

Importing a publication from ORCID is enabled by default in DSpace 8.x once you have Entities enabled.  It should be available on your MyDSpace page.  Click the Import button (to the right of the drag & drop box).  Select "Publication".  Then, in the dropdown (next to the "Search" box) select "ORCID" and type in a valid ORCID to find all publications associated with that ORCID.

I just tested it on our Demo Site at https://demo.dspace.org/ and it's working as expected.

If you cannot get it working, you may want to make sure you've *not* modified the Live Import settings (which Pierre linked to), as doing so may change which import plugins are listed on your MyDSpace page.  You also might check your backend logs (dspace.log) to see if you are seeing errors there.
