Dropwizard 5.0 Release

Hello,

I am currently working on a project that uses Dropwizard 4.2 in production and we would like to support tags in our metrics. I understand that Dropwizard 5.0 has support for tags so could anyone shed some more light on the release plan for Dropwizard 5.0? I see that it is not currently maintained but there have been some release candidates out in the last few months: https://mvnrepository.com/artifact/io.dropwizard.metrics5/metrics-core. I think you mean Dropwizard Metrics (https://metrics.dropwizard.io/) and not Dropwizard (https://www.dropwizard.io/).

There's also a dedicated mailing list for Dropwizard Metrics: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/metrics-user

There's currently no scheduled release date for Dropwizard Metrics 5.0.0.

You can find more details in https://github.com/dropwizard/metrics/issues/1704.

In the end it's lacking active contributions and the current maintainers don't have time to work on the release/5.0.x branch.

If you're interested in getting Dropwizard Metrics 5.0.x out of the door, your best chance is by actively contributing to the release. ;-)
