It _is_ a 2D structure with some thickness. DREAM.3D depends on a true “3D” regular geometry which is why we make you put in the Z values for spacing. What is your end goal for using DREAM.3D? Are you trying to export the EBSD structure to an FEA program such as Abaqus? Are you trying to gather statistics about your microstructure?
