How to reconstruct 2D microstructure

Hello all,

I try to construct 2D microstructure based on one layer of EBSD data. But when I use the filter 'change resolution', it prompts resolution must be positive. Do you know how to construct 2D microstructure?

Just use 1.0 for the Z value for a 2D microstructure.

Hi Mike

I tried your suggestion. I set x and y as 4.0, and z as 1.0. But it's still 3D. Is Dream3D able to construct 2D microstructure?

It _is_ a 2D structure with some thickness. DREAM.3D depends on a true “3D” regular geometry which is why we make you put in the Z values for spacing. What is your end goal for using DREAM.3D? Are you trying to export the EBSD structure to an FEA program such as Abaqus? Are you trying to gather statistics about your microstructure?

I only have one layer of EBSD data, and my goal is to export a 2D mesh to abaqus.
