Dear Mike,

I want to model the additively manufacturing Al as stated in the paper "Deciphering phase stress partition and its correlation to mechanical anisotropy of laser powder bed fusion AlSi10Mg". I have attached the related figures to this message. Is there any way to insert FMP in grain boundaries by DREAM3D? these areas with fine grains appear in AM parts among melting pools. Maybe we can define the in DREAM3D as different phases at grain boundaries or some other methods?

Best,

I also wanted to add my own EBSD pic showing some refined grains between the hatches of LPBF-ed Nickel alloy. Refined grains occcurat hatch borders or melting pool borders at the boundaries of larger grains.

You could try adding a precipitate phase to the synthetic and set the % at the grain boundary to 100%? That might work depending on the volume percent you also choose. You could select a set of parameters that are impossible to fulfill. This is worth a try.
