Can't import SVG files written by other applications

Drawio won't import SVG files written by other applications, it only
seems to 'like' ones it has written itself.

I have tried various .SVG files created in different ways and drawio
simply says "Not a diagram file" and won't load them.

Can anyone suggest a way to create .SVG files that drawio recognises?

OK, further resarch has shown me why this is, but it is a rather major
limitation I feel.

[draw.io Q&A]

draw.io can import an SVG image as a full image, drag and drop the SVG into the editor.

SVG+XML files can be reopened as the draw.io XML is embedded within the SVG. You cannot open an SVG file as SVG is not a native format, draw.io is not an SVG editing tool, this is explained at https://github.com/jgraph/drawio.

When you say "customer #27255", what does that mean?

Yes, I found that out, not terribly useful except for small objects on
a larger diagram.
