PS-LB and other Dragino devices - getting the stored history by Bluetooth

I was very excited to learn that Dragino devices keep a history of the sensor values internally, and even better that these can be interrogated and re-sent by sending the right commands over LoRa.

But I was sad to see that you can not also download the history directly from the device by Bluetooth with an AT command. Wouldn't it be really good if a user could stand next to the device and download all the history from its internal memory onto their phone? In the field this would really help somebody who actually needed their readings and the network was missing some transmissions. 

Am I correct to say that this feature is not possible and is there any chance that it might be available in future updates? 

Is there any other way of getting the history from a device apart from through the LoRaWan?

Hi, Anna,

A node with datalog can store up to 3328 packets, and the data storage time is calculated according to the following formula:

Data storage time =TDC* Number of storage packages (up to 3328)

For nodes with the datalog function, we have added a datalog section introduction in the user manual.

Take S31-LB as an example: S31/S31B-LB/LS -- LoRaWAN Outdoor Temperature & Humidity Sensor User Manual - DRAGINO

In the datalog section, we introduced the method of querying datalog through downlink commands.

In fact, we can also query these historical data through the AT command.

The following are screenshots of some related commands:

It should be noted that many mobile phone Bluetooth tools cannot display all history records correctly (they may overwrite). It is recommended to use a computer serial port assistant to print the historical records.

Thank you for correcting and informing me. I am using the PS-LB and unfortunately on its wiki page there is no mention of this AT+ command so I ask that you add that to that page.

That functionality is exactly what I wanted. Thank you so much; I've just tried it on mine and it works. I'm on a phone and downloaded all the pages. Luckily all of the output is put in the log txt file, so I was then able to upload the text file to my computer. It's not very easy but it's certainly possible to do and that's absolutely amazing. 

Thank you so much again for the quick response. Interesting to see also about the CLRDTA command. Could you please tell us what happens when the memory fills up? If the user does not clear it, does the device automatically start looping around or does it error in some way?

Thank you for your positive feedback!

Regarding your questions:

1. Wiki page update: We've noted your suggestion to add AT+ command descriptions to the PS-LB wiki page, and the page will be updated soon.

2. Data storage behavior when memory is full:

When storage is full, the device automatically employs a circular buffer mechanism.

New data will overwrite the oldest historical data (FIFO principle).

There will be no accidental erasure of all stored data.

The system won't generate any errors or overflows in this situation.
