Hi everyone,

The Dorset Digital group seems to have gone off the boil in recent months.

Is anyone interested in making the group a regular thing?

I'm thinking that we could:

  • Look for new people to join the group
  • Update the website
  • Create a calendar of events (so everyone knows when/where they will happen)

Please raise your hand if you're interested (or slap me down if it's your group and I'm stepping on any toes here!)

Leif

A +1 for it continuing — but I'm way busier in the evenings than I
used to be so personally less likely to attend stuff unless it's
local-local ;)

Hi Leif,

> - Look for new people to join the group

I think Bournemouth attendance at Dorset Digital has declined as the
number of groups in Bournemouth has risen, many of them special-interest
ones.

Here's a rough list I've got. Some may have died by now. It gives an
idea of what's out there, and perhaps where to publicise.

dotDorset, a hub listing Dorset’s local technology communities.
http://dotdorset.com/
Dorset Digital, “an informal community of web and software
professionals”. http://www.dorsetdigital.co.uk/
B&W Talk & Meet, “a Bournemouth-based pub meet for digital
creatives”. http://bwmeet.co.uk/
Meetdraw, Bournemouth-based meetings of Dorset digital animals.
http://www.meetdraw.com/
rubyDorset, for new and seasoned Ruby programmers in Dorset.
http://ruby.dorset.io/
Bournemouth.rb, for Ruby programmers.
http://bournemouthrb.org.uk/
Dorset Linux User Group.
http://dorset.lug.org.uk
Hampshire LUG, the neighbours.
http://www.hants.lug.org.uk/
Make Bournemouth, a “collective of multidisciplinary creatives”.
http://www.makebournemouth.com/
hackbmth, “What would happen if you put Bournemouth’s creatives in
one room, for one day?”. http://hackbmth.org/
Dorset Constructorium, a Hackerspace.
http://www.constructorium.org/
Bournemouth Startup Beers, an example meet.
https://www.facebook.com/events/265669676953379/
UX Bomo, “The monthly event for Bournemouth & Dorset UX folk”.
http://uxbomo.com/
Mobile Dorset, “informal gathering of mobile developers, designers
and anyone with a passion for mobile in Dorset”.
http://mobiledorset.com/
Digital Hampshire, “Knowledge-sharing, debate & inspiration
throughout Hampshire's digital community”.
http://www.digitalhampshire.com/
Techshore, Southampton-based meetings for south-coast tech.
start-ups. https://twitter.com/#!/techshore

Cheers, Ralph.

Id second that - I did say that I would look at getting some invites out then got totally washed under with work.

Id be happy to lend a hand if needed.

Thanks for all the responses.

I suggest that we take this discussion into a private email group (so we don't bombard the full group with loads of chatter).

If you want to join the discussion, just ask!

Hi all,

Last nights pub meetup in Bournemouth was good fun, only a few people, but we have decided to organise a monthly meetup on the the 3rd Wednesday of every month.

To start with we will meet at the Goat & Tricycle (http://www.goatandtricycle.co.uk) from 7.30pm, and the next meetup will be on the 17th June, hope you can make it.

The website is going to be reworked (more details soon), we have also started a Facebook Group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/dotDorset - come and say hello :)

Cheers,
David
