Hi,

Is the legacy form builder supported by dotcms 4.4?

Thanks,

Alex

Not really.  It's there for people who use it as a legacy but has not been supported for years.  Also, the latest version is 4.2.2 FWIW.

It is recommended to use the restful api to submit forms as content.  https://dotcms.com/docs/latest/save-content-using-the-rest-api
There is an example provided with the starter/demo site.

Hope it helps!

Thank you, Chris!

As far as "It is recommended to use the restful api to submit forms as content.  https://dotcms.com/docs/latest/save-content-using-the-rest-api
There is an example provided with the starter/demo site."

Are form types enabled in the Community Edition?

Thanks,

Alex

No the Form Types are Enterprise, but you can use the Content API as I linked to in Community Edition.

There’s something in the 4.2 release notes about “removing all struts endpoints”.  Since legacy forms use a struts endpoint, I imagine it would no longer work “out of the box”.  If you are doing a Tuckey redirect to a custom-code servlet endpoint, that should work I think if you update the source compatibility to match the distribution you are using.

Nathan,

You are right!  The form builder does not work at all.  See what it displays after the update:

Well technically it’s just HTML and JavaScript and should work (I wrote it.) However, it looks like the backend Dojo stuff is interfering or the file is missing. I just see Dojo stuff in that screenshot.

Regardless, even if you could get the Form Builder to work, what I’m saying is that the Legacy Forms probably won’t submit anymore do to the missing struts endpoints /dotCMS/sendEmail and /dotCMS/submitWebform (Or whatever they are.)
