Hi all,

It’s time to schedule our annual meeting/workshop!
If you are interested in presenting or leading a short discussion, please let me know and I will try to come up with a coherent agenda. Also please fill out the linked scheduling poll so we can figure out some possible dates and times.

Some suggested topics:
– interesting problems or scenarios in mapping/interaction design
– demos or reports of recent projects/performances using mapping tools
– updates to libmapper, webmapper, etc.
– language bindings
– session management
– bridges/integration with other software (e.g. game engines)
– hardware platforms (e.g. ESP32, RPi, Arduino, Bela)
– testing, distribution, package managers
– proposals for extensions or new features

Cheers,
Joe

I messed up the dates – please disregard the scheduling poll I sent earlier and use this one instead!

Hi all,

Dalhousie university (where I work) has locked out faculty as part of a labour dispute. Unfortunately this means I can’t work until this is resolved and our workshop will need to be postponed. Once I’m back to work I will resend a scheduling poll.

Regards,
Joe

Hi all,

Apologies for the delay – a new scheduling poll is available here: https://www.when2meet.com/?32533028-IS71e

Please indicate your availability if you would like to attend, and also let me know if you would like to present or discuss anything specific. So far, I would like to present & discuss:

- updates to libmapper and related tools since the last workshop
- a proposal for using a hierarchical object graph and named instances in libmapper
- a proposal for creating and using an XPath-inspired expression language for specifying and querying maps

Regards,
Joe

Hi all,

It looks like Tuesday October 7 at 5pm UTC works (2pm Halifax, 1pm Montreal, etc) works for everybody who filled out the poll. It’s a small group so far so please spread the word if you think anyone else might be interested in joining us!

I’ll send a follow-up message with a meeting link.

Regards,
Joe

Hi! I'm waiting at the Jitsi "door" waiting to be left in, since it's 15 minutes past starting time I figured I'd check, is the workshop on?

Hi Ilias - unfortunately the workshop was yesterday afternoon (Tuesday 7 October).

I’m happy to have a chat another time (next week?) if you or anyone else on this list is interested. Perhaps at a time that is more convenient for people outside of North America?

Regards,
Joe

Argh, of course I should have thought of that before writing :D
Obviously I got my time-zone calculations messed up.

It's fine for me, I was mainly curious and wanted to listen in, thank you for offering!
