Hi all,

This is an early announcement that Liverpool will be hosting the British Science Festival in 2025

Here is a snippet from an email I received earlier this month from LJMU vice chancellor

By way of update. UoL, LJMU and the British Science Association have now formally signed the Festival 2025 agreement.

Comms teams from both universities are working the BSA to announce very shortly.

Not sure what opportunities there will be to engage in it but it would be great for Does Liverpool to be involved.

It would be really good too. I'm am going to talk to their engagement team about it. Partly on behalf of @Ignite Liverpool. I'll ask them how they are intending to engage community activities like Merseyside Skeptics and Makefest.

It would be good to see @Liverpool MakeFest involved too. cc @Dan Lynch

I had completely forgotten that Ignite Liverpool had sent them a letter of support for their bid. Ignite has just had an email from the Pro-Vice Chancellor detailing how they hope to move things forward.

He said "We are also interested to look at potential ideas for submissions to calls for programme content " So start talking now about what could be done.

If it would be helpful then we could arrange a meeting at Does to throw ideas around.

I would be up for doing an interactive AI art installation , like the one we did for the makefest ( https://x.com/MatthewCroughan/status/1809939571834302956 ) or something else - who knows what tech will become available by next year.

Are there any guidelines as to how it should be related to science? I'm interested to join you for a meeting or just chat at does if you're around?

It's not until September 2025 so loads of time but would be good to start planning and bringing groups together.
