Help sewing backing & putting up curtains

Helloi, I've bought some curtains which go right across the living room and a curtain pole, but I'm not sure how to sew the backing strip where the hooks go in the first place. Would you be able to advise me with sewing and how best to fix the poles. There probably needs a bracket in the middle fixed to the ceiling joist to keep the curtain rail secure.

Suggestions came up with more detail for pencil pleat tape, so they might helpful too. Without seeing what you have it’s difficult to say exactly. 

I’m no help with advising on the poles and support.
