High-Power Mocap LEDs

Hey, I was looking for some high-power LEDs to mount on a motion capture helmet (see attached photo). These are suitable in terms of weight, but not powerful enough. I need them to be powered by a performer-worn body pack - doesn't matter the connection though.

When Jackie, Mike G, and I wanted to create a “painfully bright” LED-encrusted dress for Little Inventors and the Great Exhibition of the North in 2018, we used “ultra bright” LEDs like these:


(Sadly I can’t remember the exact specs. Maybe the others might.)

With a bit of digging it looks like you can get even brighter:


I’m sure you’re already anticipating this, but we were surprised at how much power these bright LEDs required, and how hot our wiring got, due to the sheer power draw. You’ll want nice thick wires and good ventilation if you’re using more than a few in a circuit.

There are still a few of the LEDs from the dress around - they're in a drawer in the carousel marked 'Bright LEDs'
