This small and mighty start-up company in San Diego is seeking a senior software engineer. The company's passion and mission is connecting Seniors with their family and friends through innovative, easy to use technology. Now is a time of rapid growth of the company, and this key role will be to continue to advance the product. Currently the position is remote, but seeking a candidate local (or within commute distance) to San Diego for in-person meetings as needed when it is safe to do so.
DESCRIPTION:
You will be developing code that is improving and enriching the lives of seniors and making a difference in the world. By joining the team, you become part of a community of incredibly talented and dedicated people fueled by passion for what they do.
You must be interested in the design and development of web, mobile, and set-top box based applications. Among our interests are: experience in Android, Java, and their related IDEs (Android Studio, Eclipse, IntelliJ IDEA) as well as familiarity with the integration of network services. Experience with HTML, CSS, and Front End Javascript Frameworks (Vue, Angular, and Backbone) as well as web application programming in a Django/Python environment. Experience with SQL and relational databases, strong documentation skills, knowledge of object oriented programming concepts, and the ability to work independently and handle multiple concurrent projects. Candidates should have a desire to be challenged and to have their efforts rewarded as the company grows.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 4+ years of professional experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience desired.
- Very strong JavaScript experience. A good understanding of the power and limitations of JS and integrations with other technologies.
- Proven working experience with VueJS, Angular, Backbone, or other JavaScript frameworks.
- Proven working experience with Python.
- Experience with Django or Flask
- Experience developing RESTful Web Services
- Experience with mobile apps. Hybrid mobile apps like Cordova, a plus.
- Experience in Android development and/or Java, a plus.
- Experience with Databases design (SQL and/or ORM).
- Experience with deploying code using Git and/or using CI tools such as Jenkins.
- Experience with cloud services, such as AWS or Google Cloud.
- Comfortable working in a Linux environment.
- Understanding of object-oriented programming concepts, algorithms, and data structures.
- Ability to utilize best practices in writing scalable and well documented code.
- Highly motivated and proactive.
- Possesses strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment with high adaptability and flexibility.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical people.
