Channel 2 no longer has Group object. If so, how can we know if a particular group is already created?

I want certain users to have the ability to join a  group, if it is already created but not create one. In order to do that I need a way to check it. How to do that?

Group is more like tagging to a channel. If you need the capability to check if a group name has been used or not,  you need to add the capability by yourself.
