cygwin and django in windows

Using windows 8. I use cygwin to do the following:

All these commands worked

#----------------------------------------------------------------

mkdir django-blog

cd django-blog

virtualenv env

source env/Scripts/activate

pip install django==1.8.2

python env/Scripts/django-admin.py startproject blog_project

cd blog_project

python manage.py migrate 

python manage.py makemigrations

python manage.py runserver 

python manage.py startapp blog

#These didn't work right

$ python manage.py createsuperuser

Superuser creation skipped due to not running in a TTY. You can run `manage.py createsuperuser` in your project to create one manually.

I did some google search and it seems the problem is ssh issue. 

There are some blogs about virtual wrapper. I have not yet been able to figure out what the issue is actually. 

Does anyone know or ever ran into this issue and solved? I do have a workaround but its nice to be in the same environment.

use syncdb instead of migrate for initialization of your database

Why would I use syncdb when moving forward e.g., 1.9...I can't use it?
