Hi I recently started developing in python with django. I created a fairly full-bodied webapp and wanted to move it into production. I tried to install it in a subdomain where there is no possibility to install the virtual environment as it is a shared hosting and uses plesk as interface.
I am in the trial period and I am not collecting anything from this app. I would like to try it to see if everything is okay and then look for a client. I have tried pythonAnywhere but the app is bigger than the space provided.
Any suggestions on where to test ?
Thanks

Hello,

While I don’t have a lot of experience, I am working on a web application spun on heroku. The only thing is they stopped being a free service :( It is very efficient and sustains large projects. It is currently hosting a staging and production site for said web app efficiently and smoothly.

However if you could find free alternatives that do the same, definitely go that route!

Hope this helps :)

Also the web app is made from django, python, and uses docker.

You want a server to host your project, correct?

Unfortunately, AWS Elastic Beanstalk is not in the free tier  Free Cloud Computing Services - AWS Free Tier (amazon.com)

Another alternative is to deploy on https://fly.io

As usual, if you use free service, be aware of their limits.

I thought beanstalk only charges for the underlying resources. Are you saying that though the underlying ec2 may be in free tier the other resources like VPC, load balancers, etc may not be?

Load Balancing is free in the first 12 months of the account. Beyond that, you have to pay for it.

But others seem to be chargeable. I guess that's how AWS gets you.

Hi Gaetano, many hosting providers offer trial period to test your app "live" with more quota than pythonanywhere.-

Maybe you can a shared hosted depending on how performance you need.

ie: towebs.

Cya,
