Pulling data from database

New to Django, coming from C# and I am totally confused how you pull data from a database. I have a Postgres DB with a table "customer" created, but have NO idea how to connect to it. I have read a bunch of stuff but they all seem to work from the Model creation to database (migration), but if the table is already created, I can't find detail what to do. 

If I have a table called "customer" and want to pull the data into my template, what should I read up on to accomplish this?

You can look at the guide in the docs:

But as everyone will tell you; you need to have done a  basic tutorial first (official or otherwise*), otherwise all the jargon will be confusing.

After that, you can also look at areas such as:
