I am just a bit worried that we will finally add all gettext parameters to
the management command options.
Would it be possible to imagine a mechanism to specify options to be
passed-through to the underlying gettext programs?

I'm sorry not to have reacted before, but it just occurred to me that we
documented how to add specific xgettext options to makemessages:

Therefore, I think this should be a won't fix issue.
