As per the issue raised by Federico Capoano
[here](https://groups.google.com/g/django-developers/c/3cbMviLrSzI), I
would like to take this up and make a relevant PR.

> Defining the app_label of an AppConfig with a dot, like
"myproject.subapp" is allowed, but raises an exception in the migration
framework (too many values to unpack).
