Hi Guys,

I'm completely new trying to contribute to the Django project (But was working on applications with Django for many years).

I was checking the README.rst and saw that there is the Django IRC channel... is this used? because accessing to irc.freenode.net is not available anymore, should this be changed to https://webchat.freenode.net/? or there is no more support of Django in an IRC channel?

Hello,

The IRC channel is still there. You can try using Riot.im with Matrix to bridge free node.

Then, yes, the IRC is still around. (I'm terrible at IRC. I can barely use it myself, but others do so a lot.)

Also there's https://forum.djangoproject.com/ which you can try.

If you're getting started, here's a couple of good links:

Hi José

irc.freenode.net is up but is not accessible with a web browser, only with an IRC client.

You can use webchat.freenode.net to connect.

Since it can be a bit confusing I've opened a Django documentation ticket to update our links to go via the freenode "how to connect" article that mentions both webchat and using an IRC client: https://code.djangoproject.com/ticket/31356 . This should make it easier for others in the future.
