anyone know about synbionetwork.net? Scam or legit?

Just got an invite to join the "Synthetic Biology Network community" - synbionetwork.net.

Anyone know about this group? According to google, they should have  a bunch of forums, including on iGEM and DIYbio, but literally *everything* on their website is hidden behind a signup page. Heck, there isn't even an about page I could find.

This thing seems to have SCAM written all over it. Just mining for passwords perhaps?

I assumed it to just be someone trying to be the "New Facebook of X", where x in this case was synbio / DIYbio. I suppose it could be something more nefarious, but not terribly interested regardless.

Yup, I got the same spam. The headers say something about a wordpress installation. Seems like a scam to me.

Seems like someone successfully scrapped email addresses from the forums. I hate websites with just a sign up page too

I signed up, and haven't experienced any ill effects yet. Doesn't seem to be spam: just seems to be a little bit clueless attempt to set up a forum site. Mostly populated, it seems, with people from Brazil.

Whatever.
