DNA samples from different tissues DIY

Hi guys! 

I wanted to measure my own DNA methylation. Different tissues apparently show different ages according to the Horvath clock 

( Great video with Dr. Horvath btw - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_aaBKubJnA&t=3057s )

I can painlessly collect buccal cell samples, and kidney cells from centrifuging urine. Blood collection will also be possible. 

Is there any other tissue I can sample from myself  without pain and risk? Maybe plucking hairs will give me some hair follicle cells? Other ideas?

Nail - but it seems keratinized cells will post challenges to obtaining a pure enough DNA sample

Semen - haploid, not diploid, of course!

Skin - may be slightly painful...

How will you measure DNA methylation? Some 3rd party provider? Please share details...

There are different providers that offer the same methylation panels that Dr Horvath uses for his studies. About 260$ per human DNA sample. Give or take. 

It's illumina 27k or 450k platform - they analyze 27k or 450k different CpG sites in the genome.

In his first patent, there is a list of 354 CpG sites that appear to be a central cause of ageing. From page 118 in this link you can see all the sites listed including their DNA sequence. 

(Unfortunately it's all a picture and I  need to use ORC software and manually check each letter to get a list) 

If anyone is interested, there is really cool new data that convinced me that CpG methylation is the main driver of ageing.

I'm not the biggest fan of Sinclair, but the studies he's involved in (easy if you are in Harvard^^) are pretty good

Not that simple, methylation pattern depends on the specific cells or tissues in the sample. So different cells have different methylation patterns. And again, Horvath confuses cause and effect. Has the methylation pattern changed because of so called aging or does it cause the alleged aging. There is an incredible recent review on the crap around aging research (Blueberries and Blood: Aging Research Goes from Great Science to Snake Oil. I have attached a summary on methylation methods that I had written while I was at Illumina.
