Hello everyone

I am the scientist Zueiro, I am Brazilian, I am professional computer programmer and want to enter the world of biohacking

I wanted to bring the two together and create a software that would help biohackers to share their discoveries, so I thought to create a groupware biohackers. It would work similar to facebook, but it would not be just a social network but a platform for shared biotechnology research.

The idea would be to create a similar network laboratree ( http://vivoweb.org/files/Laboratree.pdf ), however focused biotechnology. And also it would be a distributed network, P2P, safe and open source.

If you liked the idea and want to help me, get in touch.

Why not just say "Google groups is goog enough" and start programming some tools for biohackers to use that don't already exist?

Sure, it's goog enough for goog research.

Some open source tools for collaboration that
can be set up to work with SSH keys so you don't have to deal with logins all the time
would be very nice, and not having to free-open publish everything in real time is
good for lots of work also. I don't like my half balked ideas going out to the world.
I like to polish them some first. Even if only one in ten bio hackers runs a server
of some kind that should be plenty for this style of groupware to do bio.
Depending on Google because it's easy is not the only way.
Google data has been hacked before. Google data can go away.

The open source database driven web app can have the idea of
backups built into it and at every server or even every user's workstation a complete copy can be kept updated every data
transaction. It would be hard to lose data if done with such a system.

Hi,
I am Ute and I really liked your idea. I guess, this would be great.
It is very important to share information and to discuss all the topics. Great.
May be, I can contribute something.... ; )
Greetings from Germany,
Ute
