in the context of covid-19, has any of this changed in DIYbio?

i remember there were many threads about this when people were first setting up their labs

A general amateur lab or are you talking about a makeshift COVID testing lab?

In the U.S. biolabs legality is largely whether the place the laboratory exists/operates in, is zoned correctly. I don't think covid changed anything to do with zoning laws.

Also if your doing a DIY Biolab it has to meet up to BSL1 standards.
