Plant Tissue Culture - White growths?

I've been seeing this chunky, whitish growth on many of my shoot tip cultures. Does anyone know what it is? It doesn't seem to affect the culture and grows too slow to be a contaminant. My best guess is maybe chemical precipitate or odd callus growth of some sort?

Thanks for the replies. That's interesting as I've never seen callus that looked like this.

I'm not at the location so I can't see the culture but if I recall correctly, I believe it was BAP.
