Hey All, I loved the Bentobox and I was wondering if anyone else is working on similar desktop biolab projects?

The standard tool kit that I've seen in a few open source versions (most of which have been part finished), PCR, Centrifuge and Gelbox make a lot of sense and I was wondering if anyone has thought of any other use cases? I personally can't wait to either buy or build a small desktop biolab to have one at home and at the lab!

Yeah! I saw the pic from iGEM and met Philipp and Bethan there. Great concept.

I imagine this working sorta like one box per protocol, or maybe something modular with interchangeable parts. ie: the box that they've featured would have the stuff needed for a genotyping experiment (plus pipettes, reagents, gel box etc.). I'm thinking about advantages of having a small scale, mobile platform vs. full bench setup.

It would be awesome if the unit has a chilled/insulated compartment for reagent storage.

You could probably fit a miniIon in there somewhere....

That would be super interesting Kevin, I wonder if/when we can get a chilled compartment & Mini-ion. There are lots of interesting ideas, i.e. further miniaturization, so pushing things to the microfluidics level or going for a bigger desktop build out.
