DIYbio Oxford

Hello! 

I will be moving to Oxford in a few weeks and since I already did some DIYbio in my current place, I was wondering if there were other people from Oxford which might be interested in starting a group (I could not find any existing group in this city).

Where were you before? 

 

If I was in your situation, I would first check out any hackerspaces.

 http://oxhack.org/ is one. 

DIYBio is still pretty small in UK, 

-london biohackers in london hackerspace, (just got there license for GM! Woo) Well worth a visit http://biohackspace.org/

-DIYMCR(Manchester) that has done a heap of projects in the past, and is getting set up for cool stuff in the future. 

-Me up in Maker Space (Newcastle) building a lab (and doing fermentations of elder berry/blossom in the meanwhile) at http://makerspace.org.uk

Hi Brian,

Nice to see another UK fellow! I was in Nottingham where I build a lab ~ 7 months ago with a friend (OpenGenX). I already took contact with the Oxford hackspace where a few people might be interested. It is pretty likely I will build a lab here since they have a lot of space and it is easier for other people to come. 

I clearly plan to visit the London Hackspace since they are quite developed now (and yeah a GM licence is pretty amazing).
