This might be useful for anyone trying to store cells. Looks like stab cultures work better than expected, although there are some deletions. Shouldn't affect plasmids, but I'm curious about the mutation rate after that.

I attempted recovery of a stab culture I made about 2 years ago in a screw-cap centrifuge tube stored at 4c. I could not purify any viable E coli from that culture when placed directly into liquid. Good idea to make plasmid stocks rather than stabs.
