Rd 3643: New Word: cran

Hi all,

Sorry for the delay in posting. At long last, the word will be "cran."  My husband and I have been doing the devilishly hard cryptic crosswords created by Stephen Sondheim (yes, him) in the 1960s and 70s. In the process, I ran across this word, but I'm not sure he actually used it.

Please send your DQs and clever made-up definitions, in honor of Mr. Sondheim, to me at (pay careful attention to this):
