I could see this one coming, but as I haven't dealt for a while, I suppose it's only fair.

The new word is:

                  *******************
                  *                 *
                  *     VAIDIE      *
                  *                 *
                  *******************

Please send your fake defs and DQs to me by email to d...@timlodge.co.uk before the deadline of:

          11:00 BST on Monday 27th May which is a bank holiday in the UK and:
          12:00 CET
           4:00 PM EDT
           7:00 PM PDT
          22:00 NZDT in New Zealand

New players are welcome.  Don't look up the word, but just send me a fake and fanciful definition of the word.

Tim,

According to this, I still have 7 1/2 hours to send in a def since it’s not yet 8:30 AM EDT. I was planning to and had it nearly ready. I know I could have checked the conversion from BST more carefully, but still ...

I'm very sorry - I appled the longitude correcton the wrong way.  I feel particularly embarassed because I used to have to have to make time calculations as a professional aviator.  "Longitude East, Greenwich least. Longitude West, Greenwich best" was drummed into us during our training (which admittedly was 56 years ago). In future, I'll try to avoid setting deadlines which are just before my bedtime, which increases the chance of a mistake..

You get 2 dealer points as a small consolation.

I know it was just a typo.
But does anyone feel that "appled" should totally be a verb?

Yes.

"William Tell appled his son"   seems obvious in meaning, no?

I was actually thinking about everything modern humanity does on their mobile devices. But your version works as well.

Thanks, Tim. If not being able to send in a fake definition for VAIDIE is the worst thing that happens to me today, it will be a VERY good day.

And I've messed up far worse, as have most of the rest of us, so please don't feel too bad.
