All – Below you will see 13 definitions, 12 creative ones and the ‘real’ dictionary one. After all, the made up ones are, in their way, as real as the dictionary one. I found many of them quite plausible. Since we’re approaching New Year’s Eve, I’ve set a relatively expansive deadline. Please send your votes to the group by 11 AM Friday, January 1, 2021 US Eastern Standard Time or as it appears in your time zone below.

Best of luck, and Happy New Year. It’ll be a relief to say goodbye to 2020.

Alan

Hmmm...you're right. There are too many good ones.

I'll reward two players with these (and my guess is that a third definition that I eliminated is probably the correct definition!):

6. The process of positioning, inserting, and cementing the femoral stem of a hip prosthesis into the femur.

7. The crackling of wind in dry leaves; also medically the grating of fractured bones; also used to describe the crackling sound of a short-circuit in a speaker connection.

Happy New Year to all!

I'll try 7 and 13.

          7. The crackling of wind in dry leaves; also medically the grating of fractured bones; also used to describe the crackling sound of a short-circuit in a speaker connection.

         13.  The process by which an oyster creates a pearl.

Vox pop seems to be 7 and 13. For lack of a better idea, I'll follow the crowd.

I'll take 3 and 9.  A lot of these are very good this time, though, I agree.
