Folks,

The nombril is "the point on an escutcheon midway between the fesse point and the base," definition 8. In the diagram below, E is the fesse (or fess) point and F is the nombril. (It is also French for "navel," which could have provided a clue but apparently didn't.) John Barrs, to nobody's surprise, knew the word and disqualified himself from voting. Nobody else got it.

Ryan McGill (a child's nickname) and Chris Carson (an architectural ornament in the shape of a sculptured flower basket) led the voters with natural 3s. Ryan is (only slightly, but still) ahead of Chris in the rolling scores, so the deal bounces back to him. Chris is the traditional "winnah."

I was conflicted about combining definitions 1 and 2 (the nicknames). I decided not to, feeling that any combined definition would inevitably take essential information away from, or add significant information to, one of them. I expected several people to vote for that pair on the grounds that they would have been combined had one of them not been real, but Mike Shefler was the only player who did.

For some reason, I don't see the scores listed anywhere on the forum. Given my tally and the rolling scores, am I right in surmising that the deal is back to me?

If so, you can expect a new word in about 6 hours. I've just got back to the office after they treated us all to Rise of Skywalker, and I have to turn in another 3/4 of a day's work before I get more play time.
