1              Superfluous

2              Much talk with little to say; redundancy; pleonasm

3              An articulated subframe carrying two or more support rollers on a tracked vehicle

4              An expression used in Scotland for a wedding conducted by a magistrate, not a clergyman (Like a Gretna Green Wedding)

5              (slang) Truckers' expression for an overweight vehicle

6              A 1940's trend among men to imitate characters played by Humphrey Bogart, i.e., tough, reckless and anchored by a hidden moral code

7              A little elevated spot or clump of earth, roots, and grass, in a marsh or swamp

8              [Rest. sl.] A triple-decker sandwich with all the fixings

9              The part of an aircraft's undercarriage above the wheels

10              The portion of a shoe or boot upper that covers the instep and toes

11              A spurious echo artifact on a radar screen

Voting for what seem to be least likely (for which the authors should thank me!):

4  An expression used in Scotland for a wedding conducted by a magistrate, not a clergyman (Like a Gretna Green Wedding)
and
6  A 1940's trend among men to imitate characters played by Humphrey Bogart, i.e., tough, reckless and anchored by a hidden moral code

John,

Do you mean the deadline to be 2100 GMT, or 2100 your time - which I assume is BST, one hour earlier than GMT?

Thanks for clarifying, as I may not have time to consider these until close to whatever the deadline actually is -

~Bending under the weight of His mercies~
The words of Zechariah the Prophet, “And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on Me, the One they have pierced, and they will mourn for Him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for Him as one grieves for a firstborn son."

2100 BST (Timing Error is my fault - and indicative of my mental confusion)

3 & 9 for me, with kudos to #6.

None of them seem believable, though a few gave me ideas that might have led me to provide a more believable fake than I did. Since the traditional hours for office workers when I was growing up were 9 to 5, I'll vote for those two.

I believe 3 more than any of the other options.

I believe 8 less than any of the other options but it sounds delicious.

4 and 6 please.
Not that I think either are correct, but 4 helped me understand events in Jane Austen and I thought 6 was a brilliant description of Bogart's characters.
