Here are 11 definitions for dawt | daut. One of them comes from an actual dictionary article about the word. Please vote for two of them, by reply to this post, before the deadline, which is  Thursday 11 November 13h00 CET. That is a little longer than normal, because Armistice Day is a public holiday in France, and in the morning my wind band will be playing at a church service followed by a procession

 and wreath-laying ceremony.

I'm guessing Scots, though based on the accuracy of my recent guesses that's a good reason to believe it's not. Anyhow, of those, the long and the short of it: 1 and 6.

I'm not convinced that daut = daughter, so I'll vote 2 & 4 instead.
