Folks,

Thirteen definitions of IRACUND  follow. One is correct. Twelve are your concoctions. They have been edited slightly for format consistency and are in ascending order of character count, which might not correspond to visual length in your email display font.

Please vote for two that you like for any reason by Replying to this message before the deadline that follows the list. If you realize now that you know what IRACUND means, please tell me by private email: emallach <at> verizon <dot> net.

1. shy or modest.

2. orderly, tidy.

3. productive [of a mine].

4. [Bot.] having no roots.

5. shaped like a curlicue.

6. full in sound; sonorous.

7. [Obs.] of or related to goiters.

8. Irascible, choleric, prone to anger

9. holding in the sense of controlling one's temper [Lat. 'ira' wrath, anger]

10. of or pertaining to a conclusion arrived at by intuition as opposed to reason.

11. in monocot plants [rice, wheat, maize] a variant that produces more than one endosperm.

12. a period of time in some countries during the early spring when there are not many fresh fruits and vegetables available.

13. Hailing from Madagascar is the Lowland Streaked Iracund (Hemicentetes semispinosus), which has striking yellow and black fur with sparsely scattered quills. Found in lowland rain forest, the elusive iracund measures less than 20 cm in length and has an extended snout ideal for its insectivorous diet. It uses its quills to communicate in two different ways, by raising them in agitation or by rubbing them together in a method known as stridulation – best known as the type of noise produced by crickets and cicadas. The sound produced is too high to be perceived by human ears.

Votes are due 47 hours from now: Sunday, Jan. 5, at 9 am US EST. According to timeanddate.com, that is:

and other times in other places. Please check any time conversion that applies to you. That site is good, but nobody's perfect, and time change season is approaching.

New players are welcome to vote. Submitting a definition is not a requirement for voting; the only requirement is that you not know what the word means. Full rules at http://www.dixonary.net/game-rules-and-advice/rules .

Vote on!

Nothing jumps out at me as being correct, so I'll just guess at these:

2. orderly, tidy.

6. full in sound; sonorous.

~Bending under the weight of His mercies~

The God Who created everything there is, is also rich in mercy and love towards us.  But man’s sinfulness has separated us from God.Sin is missing the mark of being 100% holy as God is holy—His will for us.  God demonstrated His love by becoming like us, only perfectly, living, walking, teaching, healing, among us, and then dying publicly and finally rising from the dead 3 days later. This sacrificial death PAID for our sins and CREDITS us with His righteousness when we believe in Him and what He did. By 100% relying on Messiah’s work and not our own good deeds, He saves us and gives us eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the Gift of God is eternal life through Jesus  the Lord.Would you accept this Jesus into your life and His forgiveness of your sin?
