Seeing Tim's spreadhseet, I'd like to know how the following travels as compared to the .jpg that I usually use. It would allow me to avoid converting to a .pdf and then a .jpg.

Thanks for your help!

Personally - NB, I mean that, it is just me

I do not like formats that force me to move the visible screen transversely in order to see things - there are reasons why we use the 'old' format. Yes they are historic from the days when we couldn't screen sideways with ease, but I am an 'oldie' too... If we want to use spreadsheets then we could send them (and then load them into whatever format we individually prefer)  But...

I use Excel and sometimes it will load to Gmail as a spreadsheet and sometimes I have to convert it to a Word doc first to insert it. Don't understand why.

I use WordPerfect, avoiding the spreadsheet altogether. In looking at the results below, I see that my dashes ended up as question marks. If I use a WP document, I'll have to avoid special characters. :-)

As I remarked to Tim, I get two versions, text and HTML. The plain text
version is basically a mess, but the HTML is rendered perfectly. Everything is
neatly in its own double-walled cell. The cell widths are appropriately padded
and moderately minimized so that I don't even have to scroll horizontally.
This is by far the clearest and neatest format I've seen for a deal result.
The only possible flaw is that for some players, the "Votes From..." column
has a single left-adjusted question mark. I wonder if that was supposed to be
something else, since other cell contents are centered.

But again, I'm talking about the performance of the rather primitive HTML
parser built into my email client. I don't know how it looks to others.

That's interesting. I will stick with my .jpg then. I know that scrolling is necessary, but it allows me to have one document to record info and then just "save as" a .pdf and then a .jpg rather than having to retype everything.

The question marks were due to my use of special characters, which I don't have to use. I'd be interested in whether others would prefer the html to the . jpg.

My two cents…

Cent 1:  It displays fine on my desktop email client (the most recent version of Outlook), except that it scrolls to the right of my preview window, so I either have to open the email in its own window, or slide a scrollbar on the bottom to see the rightmost columns.    On my iPhone the whole table is shrunk so small as to be unreadable.  I have to use my fingers to pinch/expand the image on the phone to read it, and then slide it left and right to read the content.

Cent 2: Others have noted that they receive both text and HTML.  That’s actually what is sent online when you send emails, allowing older, text-based clients to read the text and ignore the formatting and newer, modern clients to read the formatted version and ignore the text.  Or, some people even have their modern email clients set to display text-only as a security/privacy precaution.  Or some Linux power-users might prefer a text-only mail application.   While it’s nifty to have a HTML version, if the text counterpart is unreadable, it’s probably a no-go.

TL;dr:

I much prefer the text-based format that allows simple scrolling, or a much narrower left-to-right image format.

No one complained when I sent the .jpg, although I realize that scrolling may be necessary. How are players receiving that?

Judy, why do you go from a pdf to jpg? that seems an unnecessary step - just send the pdf for |I would have thought that most people have a pdf reader nowadays

Much the same way, but I didn’t complain.  This wasn’t a complaint, either, it was just feedback that was asked for. 😊

I assumed that the results should be in the body of the message. I don't believe I can paste or insert a .pdf in the message as I can a .jpg. Would an attachment do?

Judy,

I am not worried - as I said, I'd prefer text
