[Dixonary] Round 3043 EDAPHIC results

Fellow players,

EDAPHIC means "of or related to soil conditions" (definition 5). In ecological contexts, edaphic conditions are distinct from climate and other factors as they affect the ability of plants to grow in a particular region. John Barrs knew the word and declared as DQ. Other than him, only Tim Lodge hit on its meaning. 

Tim Lodge's mathematical manifold (whatever that means), definition 12, also got 3 votes. That gave him a total of five and bounced the deal right back to him - fair play, since he had just bounced it back to me. Runner-up and traditional "winnah" was Ryan McGill with his uplifting definition 3, which earned four votes. Ryan didn't vote, but would have overtaken Tim had he voted correctly..

Just for interest, my winning mathematical def of EDAPHIC is total nonsense, but was inspired by my eldest grandson, who is reading mathematics at Oxford University.  He tried to expain to me what he was doing for his final dissertation, but lost me in the first sentence!
