I've got back earlier than expected from today's event, and all those who submitted a def, plus three of those who didn't, have voted, so I'm closing the round early.  First and last was a popular voting choice this time, and that not only zeroed in on the real def - the kind of leek - but also awarded Shani a magnificent 8 votes for her Icelandic fermented shark.  Shani takes the next deal, leaving Paul Keating as the relieved runner-up with an unnatural 5, and me with a D5.

Over to you, Shani.

~Bending under the weight of His mercies~
The words of Zechariah the Prophet, “And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on Me, the One they have pierced, and they will mourn for Him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for Him as one grieves for a firstborn son."

The notion of a tax on clergymen's mistresses clearly appealed to some players. It did in fact exist. But it was called cuIlagium:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cullagium
