Here are 14 definitions for peccaid, only one of which is correct.
Vote for  your two favorites no later than 10 AM EDT, Saturday May 2.

1.  a short band or strap, attached by one end and buttoning at the
other, used to fasten a coat or other garment whose edges do not
overlap. Also: a similar band attached at both ends for holding a
belt or sash in place, or sewn on simply as a decorative trimming.

12.  extremist or radical in politics.

13.  a short burst of machine gun fire.

I'm tempted by the self-flagellation whip, but I'll go for safer options with 6 and 9.

Let's go with the longest ones, though I believe them least of all.
